As we are saying goodbye to the minus conditions and saying hello to spring, right now is the perfect time to start getting your garden ready for the months to come.
Here are some top tips on how to get started!
Have a tidy up– With the windy conditions we have had this winter, the best way to start off is to get rid of all the leaves, debris and weeds. This way you have a clear canvas to work with!!
Maintain fences and gates– Due to the weather conditions, your fencing and gates can take quite a battering, therefore repairs may need to be done. It’s best to fix them up, wash to remove the dirt and maybe even give it a lick of paint to brighten it up!
Get your order in- As we are still dealing with the rain, why not use a rainy day for looking through a magazine and order your bulbs and seeds. If you haven’t yet decided what you want to do with the different areas in your garden why got get some inspiration from the below magazines!

Clean and sharpen your gardening tools– Let’s be honest, you never really think to give your tools a clean every time you use them. By not cleaning your tools, this can cost you money in the future and can cause bacteria and fungi to the new plants. The best way to give your tools a clean is quite simple!- Strong detergent, hot water and a scourer. Once you have sharpened your tools its always best to add some oil or WD40 to blades and hinges!
Cut the grass- That overgrown grass isn’t going to sort itself! Now is the perfect time to get this done so that when it comes to sitting outside in glorious sunshine…the job is done!
